“The Soul Sisters”: the Black tradition at the heart of Brindisi
This concert takes shape, scheduled for Monday, December 29 at 7:00 p.m., at the crossroads of the main streets (Corsi), in the heart of the city’s historic center.

The evening is part of the regional program Capodanni di Puglia, a project that connects provincial capital cities through a widespread cultural offering, capable of inhabiting urban space and engaging diverse audiences in the period leading up to and accompanying the transition from one year to the next. Within this framework, Brindisi creates an event designed for the square, entrusting music with the task of creating a time for meeting, listening, and participation.
The concert by the quintet “The Soul Sisters”—featuring the voices of Silvia Bevilacqua, Annalisa and Alessia Potente, joined by Michele Maggio on piano and synth and Tore Nobile on drums and percussion—is dedicated to the great women of soul, jazz, and rhythm and blues who, through their talent and unconventional personalities, shaped the history of twentieth-century music and beyond. Figures such as Billie Holiday, Etta James, Whitney Houston, and Tina Turner become explicit references in a journey that spans eras and languages, offering the audience not a simple tribute but a conscious reinterpretation of a musical heritage that changed the way we sing, play, and listen.

The evening alternates musical moments with audience interaction, including segments dedicated to the Christmas repertoire reimagined through original arrangements. The overall duration is approximately two hours, and the format is designed for broad enjoyment, suitable for squares and places of passage, where listening intertwines with the daily life of the city.
